Varsity Head Coach: Matt Brown

This is Coach Shanfeld’s sixth season as a baseball coach at Parkway South.  He has been an assistant varsity basketball coach for 19 years.  He had been a JV head coach in basketball, football and baseball at Parkway North and was the head Senior American Legion Baseball coach at Creve Coeur for eight years.  Mike graduated from Parkway North and then attended Meramec, UMSL and also Lindenwood University, where he earned his master degree.  He pitched in the NJCAA College Baseball World Series while at Meramec.

Mike is in his eleventh year of teaching physical education at Wren Hollow Elementary.  He had taught at Pierremont Elementary for eleven years before moving to Wren.  He was also a permanent substitute at North prior to teaching at Pierremont. 

Mike and his wife Dana (former business teacher at South), have a 17 year-old son, Ryan and a 15 year-old son, Tyler.

Head Freshman Coach : Dave McFarland

Coach McFarland is starting his 30th year as an assistant baseball coach at Parkway South. Coach McFarland has been the Head Freshman Coach since the program was started in '98. Coach McFarland is a graduate of Lutheran South High School where he played both baseball and football. Coach McFarland then went on to earn a degree in Health and Physical Education from the University of Missouri - Columbia. Coch McFarland has also earned both a Master's and Specialist Degree in Educational Administration from Southwest Baptist University. Coach McFarland currently serves as the Director of Baseball Operations for the St. Louis Metro Collegiate Baseball League.

Currently, Coach McFarland is in his 29th year as a Health and Physical Education Teacher at Parkway South High School where he also serves as the Head Varsity Softball Coach. Coach McFarland has been married to his wife Teresa for 27 years and they have a 18 year old son, Aidan.
